     Used Cars

It’s shiny. It’s your favorite color. It has the exact shape you’ve been looking for. Best of all, it’s cheap. You’ve found the second hand vehicle you just have to have.

You’re not bothered by the fact that you can actually afford a brand new automobile because you know there’s nothing wrong with buying used cars if you’re knowledgeable about what you’re doing, and you’re as savvy as they come – or are you?

Perhaps you’re not that clued-up. It would be a mistake rushing to buy a previously owned vehicle without knowing all there is to know, and caution needs to be exercised.

Firstly, well done on realising you can save money by choosing old rather than new. A new car barely leaves the shop and its value already drops considerably. By choosing old, you may even have enough money over to also buy accessories you may otherwise have not been able to afford. Your car is going to look better than a new one!

Now back off from that shiny motor vehicle you’re lovingly running your fingers over. Go home and do some homework before going window-shopping again. You don’t want people to laugh at you when everything falls apart because you chose to buy second hand rather than new. Once you’re driving what you’ve bought, you’ll want to show your friends that your decision was a good one.

There can be many problems associated with buying used cars, but if you know what to look out for, these potential problems can be avoided. Before you even get to the dealer, or private owner, decide what you want to use the vehicle for. Will it suit you? Is it mostly for driving at high speeds on the motorway? Or is it simply for getting you from point A to point B on the roads of your little town?

Once you know what is suitable – and not based on your favorite shape, or shade of metallic finish – walk up to a motor vehicle sales dealer with confidence, knowing you won’t be conned into buying what doesn’t suit you.

Test drives are very important. Test driving an automobile gives you a feel of it’s road handling capabilities, as well as it’s engine sound at different speeds, comfort, and leg room spaciousness. Do the gears change smoothly? Is the seat easily adjustable for others that may also sometimes drive your vehicle? What is the road visibility like? Does that long bonnet, wide rear canopy, or huge side mirror obscure your vision of the road?

Equally important when buying used cars, is to check all the papers involved. Never rely solely on the words and promises of the seller. Promises must be on papers that are signed.
If you know a mechanic, or somebody who knows a little more about cars than you do, take them with you for advice. Always check the history reports of second hand motor vehicles. Automobiles that have been in serious accidents, especially those where the main damage was to the front of the automobile should be avoided. You don’t want to spend a fortune on repairs and replacement parts. If anything even feels in the slightest bit wrong, rather move onto the next seller.

Now that you’re fully armed and ready, what else could be missing? Perhaps the weight of those new car keys in your hand?
